Photowalk: The Alief International Parade (year THREE!)

Its that time of year again! Once a year we attend a small town parade in Alief, Texas. The parade officially starts at 9am! Those with HoustonPhotowalks.com photographer's badges can enter the "staging" area as early as 8:15am.
Just like years previous, we have permission to walk around in the "staging" area while everyone is getting ready. Bands, floats, officials, police, fire, horses, etc. Its a HUGE bonus that they are letting us do it again this year!!
Meet at the East/West Bank building ( http://bit.ly/KgZK4... ) at 8:15 AM to get a photographer's badge. AT EXACTLY 8:16am we start walking . Please arrive on time to get your badge, I will not have them with me once I start photowalking.
If you have your photog badge from last year, feel free to wear it.
The parade route will travel West on Bellaire from Wilcrest to Cook Road and end at Hastings Ninth Grade Center. This is a great opportunity for people-shots, group-shots, crowd-shots, public official-shots, and even a large group of police cars and horses that attend each year.
You might get your best shots if you walk about 2 blocks West on Bellaire. This will help you avoid getting too many power lines, graffiti and stop-lights in your shots.
To thank Marie Lee of Alief Community Association for giving us access to the "start" location, I will be sending her a disc with some images of the event. The ones we made for her last year were much appreciated; you are encouraged to contribute to the collection as well.

Photowalk: Nice, Friendly Stroll Down Westheimer
Houston Photowalks
Its been a while since we last did just a friendly photowalk stroll, taking pictures and having a good time. Lets meet up somewhere along Westheimer, maybe near the antique shops? I'll post more solid details later on.
Bring the family and plan to stay till after dark, we'll practice taking some night-shots too.
The area I'm considering seems mostly safe ... but please wear good running shoes, just in case.
